Born in San Salvador, Mónica is a technology entrepreneur and investor in fintech and artificial intelligence startups. Monica is also a Google Academy alumna. She was seen sharing analysis on technology trends on CNN.
As an international speaker, she focuses on encouraging women to develop in STEM careers to minimize the salary gap. Mónica has presented papers at congresses of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the United States Department of State at the hands of the embassies of that country in Latin America and at academic institutions including the Tec de Monterrey, the UNAM and several universities in USA.
She has worked in various roles in the business and marketing industry with Fortune 500 companies including IBM and international corporations such as Televisa (Mexico), Globo (Brazil), Grupo Digicel, Getty Images Latin America and some governments. IBM hired her to conduct business research in Argentina, Mexico and Brazil to expand the penetration of its products in emerging niches.
Monica holds bachelors and masters degrees in Theoretical Science of Film and Media from UCLA, speaks Spanish, English, Portuguese, and Farsi, and is an active member of the American Jewish Committee. Monica has been recognized with a Certificate of Appreciation by Gavin Newson, current Governor of California, Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House of Representatives , Assembly members Jackie Goldberg and Sheil Kuehl, and former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villarraigosa for their contributions businesses to the Latino community in the United States.
She has received countless awards including the Attitude Award from La Prensa de Los Angeles, the Empresaria Award from the Águilas Organization in San Francisco, the Entrepreneurial Award from the migrant organization CHIRLA and in 2021, the Emblematic Woman Award granted by Connecta B2B and Mercados y Tendencias Magazine.
